Why is the dishwasher shocking?

A dishwasher is one of the benefits of civilization, which greatly simplifies the life of a woman. The most unpleasant work in the kitchen - washing dishes, is done by itself. But it happens that the dishwasher is shocking, and what to do in this situation?

Causes of the problem

First of all, it is worth figuring out why in general the dishwasher begins to be shocked? The causes of this problem can be divided into two main categories: violations during the connection of the device to the network and problems with wiring, and the second is damage in the inside of the machine.

Internal damage to the device

This problem most often appears in devices that have been in your kitchen for many years. Among these damages can be identified:

  • Insulation on wires is broken;
  • Engine problems;
  • Ten or its triggering mechanism has been damaged.

It is the problems with the power relay and with the heater itself that is the most common. The reason for the appearance of defects on PETN is the poor quality of water. Checking this is very simple, just open the lid and inspect the heater. If a malfunction is detected, it is worth replacing the part.

It is worth paying special attention to the purchase of new parts. They must be proprietary, designed specifically for your model of device. This ensures a longer service life of the dishwasher and its serviceability after repair.

How to check ten

To check the heater, it must be removed. This is done as follows:

  • Unplug the machine;
  • It is necessary to pull out the inside of the sprinklers, the basket for dishes and the trash filter;
  • If there are screws at the bottom of the tank (under the net) they must be unscrewed;
  • Expand the device to open access to the bottom;
  • Remove the bottom;
  • Disconnect the heater from the nozzle;
  • The removed heater must be inspected for damage and defects.

Fault detection

Damage to ten can be determined using saline and a multimeter. The heater is lowered into the solution, and the resistance is measured by the device. If there is resistance, then ten must be replaced with a new one.

Second way

  • We set the multimeter to the resistance measurement mode (Ohm);
  • We apply to the contacts of the PETN;
  • If there is a problem, the readout of the device will be infinite, a valid heater shows 21-22 Ohm ;.
  • Again we put the probe to the contact, and the second to the grounded surface. Now the resistance must be infinite, just then the ten is in order.

For this method, it is worth remembering that during measurement, the parts of the device must be dry (including ten). Otherwise, the results cannot be considered accurate.

Wiring failure

A dishwasher may shock you due to a faulty wiring. The leak may be due to wiring, because of which the case will be energized.

Often there are situations when directly in the case the nest is arranged by rodents, and they cut the wiring. After which the problem appears. You can identify such a nest in the device using a smell. Open the dishwasher and sniff, the mice emit a specific smell, if there is one, you need to open the case.

If the matter is not rodents, the integrity of the wiring could still be violated. Inside there are many wires, one of which could be defective and simply burned out. In addition, insulation could wear out due to time. It is necessary to carefully examine all the wiring in the machine for their integrity.Pay particular attention to the places where the wiring is connected to the terminals and tokens. Damaged wires must be replaced.

If you have the skill to work with a multimeter, this device can speed up the test and significantly increase its effectiveness. If there are no problems with the wiring, we proceed to the inspection of the engine. It can also cause leakage.

What to do in this case? Using the same multimeter, we check the motor winding. If there is a leak on the body, the engine will have to be replaced. Some decide to give the engine to rewind, but this procedure is more expensive.

Incorrect network connection

One of the most common reasons why a dishwasher can be shocked is an incorrect network connection. A detailed guide on how to do this is written in the instructions for the device. Dishwashers from different manufacturers have different connection conditions. This is due to differences in technical characteristics, so it is worth paying special attention to this issue.

But there is one basic rule that applies to all models of the device, without exception: you can connect the dishwasher to the mains only through the Euro outlet, in which grounding is present.

If there are no euro outlets in the house, it is worth installing it for the dishwasher. No need to resort to various tricks. Many immediately change the plug to normal, which is also a very big mistake, and can lead to undesirable consequences, including a fire or device breakdown.

Instead of grounding, grounding can also be used: connection to dead neutral. It is worth remembering that you can’t do this on your own! Only a specialist needs to entrust this work. Otherwise, you can seriously damage the device, or, even more serious, damage your own health!

Other possible causes

If the machine is beating current, this does not mean that the problem is in it. If after checking the wiring and the inside of the device you did not find any problems, maybe the whole thing is in the outlet? To eliminate this problem, the position of the outlet is very important (40-50 cm from the floor, next to the dishwasher itself). The contacts of the outlet are also worth checking, their oxidation could also be the cause. In addition, it is important to remember that the use of extension cords for connecting such a powerful device is not allowed.

Do not forget about the safety rules!

In order not to completely ruin the device, and first of all, not to harm yourself, you should always remember the safety rules:

  • Before you look for the cause of the breakdown or start repair, the device must be disconnected from the network;
  • Do not touch the dishwasher with wet hands while it is plugged in;
  • Do not install the device in a room with high humidity;
  • If damage to the insulation is detected on the wiring, socket or plug, it is better not to turn on the dishwasher.

Finally

If you notice that your dishwasher has started to be shocked, in no case should you ignore this problem! Knowing some basics and following certain instructions. You can find out the cause of the problem yourself. But given that this is primarily related to electricity, it might be better to call a professional.
